How to use the eye drops

1. Gently pull down your lower eyelid with your finger and tilt your head backward.
2. Position the bottle or dropper over your eye, look upward, and allow one drop to fall into your lower eyelid.
3. Close your eye and gently press your finger on the inside corner of your eye (over the eyelid) for approximately one minute to help the drop stay in your eye.
4. Wipe away any excess liquid with a clean tissue.
5. Repeat the process in the other eye if necessary. One single-dose dropper contains enough liquid for both eyes if needed.
6. Recap the bottle. If using a single-dose dropper, discard it.
7. If you missed your eye, you can try again immediately.

If using carmellose sodium with other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before using the additional drops. Using another set of eye drops too quickly may dilute the carmellose sodium's effectiveness.

If you also use an eye ointment, apply your eye drops first and wait 5 minutes before using the ointment.

If you find it challenging to apply eye drops, consult with a pharmacist for guidance. They may suggest an eye drop dispenser to assist you. Using eye drops correctly can be challenging, but there are various helpful devices available, such as Autodrop, Opticare, and Drop Aid Single Dose.

Side Effects of

Common side effects may include eye irritation (including burning and discomfort), eye pain, itchy eyes, and visual disturbances.

Quick Suggestions:

• You can usually use carmellose sodium 4 times a day, or as needed.
• Carmellose sodium should start to work straight away, but it may take several weeks before you feel the full effects.
• If you wear contact lenses or need to use carmellose sodium more than 4 times a day, a brand that does not contain a preservative may be best for you.
• Carmellose sodium is generally safe, with no long-term side effects.
• Do not share eye drops with other people. This can increase the risk of spreading infections to others.

Carmize is a sterile, preservative-free 0.5% ophthalmic solution of carmellose sodium.

Pharmacology

CMC Luvis 0.5% Ophthalmic Solution contains carmellose sodium as its active ingredient. Carmellose sodium acts as a substitute for tears and functions as a lubricant. When applied, it helps address the symptoms of dry eyes, such as soreness, burning, irritation, or dryness, by supplementing the inadequate natural tear production.

Dosage & Administration:

The recommended dosage is 1-2 drops of Carmellose Sodium in the affected eye(s), administered four times a day or as needed. Contact lenses do not need to be removed before using Carmellose Sodium. Ensure the single-dose container is intact before use, and the solution should be used immediately after opening. To prevent contamination or potential eye injury, avoid contact between the open end of the single-dose container and the eye or any other surfaces. Hands should be washed before use.

Interaction

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications you are currently using or have recently used, including non-prescription drugs. If using other eye drops, maintain a gap of at least 15 minutes between applying those drops and Carmellose Sodium.

Contraindications

Do not use Carmellose Sodium if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to carmellose sodium or any other ingredients in the medicine.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Carmellose Sodium can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

If you experience irritation, pain, redness, changes in vision, or if your condition worsens, discontinue the use of this medicine and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
